Beautiful one-of-a-kind enamel earrings with laminated quartz created in Idar Oberstein, a literal stone processing town in Germany. All set in sterling silver, these earrings are lightweight and have forward and back movement. I purchase my stones from stone dealers who practice ethical sourcing practices and fair trade practices. The enamel is applied in a process called sgraffito in which I apply a thin layer of enamel paint and “scratch” through the surface to reveal the white enamel beneath. The pattern is fired into the base coat of enamel in a 1500 degree kiln. I finish the pieces with a thin coat of clear enamel that is under-fired forming a textured surface. They measure 2”x1.25”.
